    Look for the ENERGY STAR® label when shopping. It's your guide to saving not only energy but water, too.
    Other things to know:
    • Review the Integrated Modified Energy Factor (IMEF). It measures the energy used while on standby - the higher the number the better the results.
    • While you're at it, check out the Integrated Water Factor (IWF). This measures water efficiency and a lower number is desirable.

    Fewer, full loads are better than several small loads - even with load sensors. Cold water can effectively clean your clothes - hotter doesn't mean cleaner.
